Several problems with the terminology :)

Basically, your itinerary:

Bali - Beijing - Las Vegas

Is eligible for, take care now, for 144 hour visa free transit in Beijing area.

You should just take care that your flights Bali - Beijing and Beijing - Las Vegas do not have any additional landing within mainland China.

By the way, there are no direct flights between Las Vegas and Hong Kong, but his detail is not of particular importance for this subject since Hong Kong has its autonomous immigration policy, separated from the rest of mainland China.

One more detail. You should definitely use correct terminology to avoid any possible misunderstandings!

The article only mentions the term "third country" and not "third-world country", which are completely different things. Furthermore, a third country means the country immediately following China in your itinerary (e.g.,
in your case, Indonesia-Beijing-US, the US is considered the third country because it is the third country in your itinerary).

If your itinerary is noncompliant then you will be either refused boarding by the airline or refused entry by immigration. Hence you do not need to worry about getting out.
