can 1 taxi from Shanghai Pudong Airport, accommodate 5 pieces of checked luggage & 2 adults

I'm not clear about your luggage size. Maybe one taxi can fit them if you put one or two luggage on the back seat.

I am assuming based on your statements that their is no difference in auto structure from the taxi's in Beijing & Shanghai ( all made in China) which are smaller cars than those made in the US for taxi's. Also, are their company's that have "mini vans for transportation between PVG & the Bund? I saw an ad about 2 months ago & I forgot to bookmark the page & now I can't find their web site. Well, mini vans is rarely seen unless you book it in advance. And the fare is expensive. Maybe you need to take two taxis.
