About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

144-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Guangdong

Dear sir/madam,
We are Australian.
We will take flights from Sydney to Guangzhou then from Guangzhou to Moscow.
While we are in Guangzhou, we would like to take a tour to visit Guangzhou, Foshan, Jiangmen, Zhuhai, Hong Kong and Panyu. Guangzhou is the first and final stop.
Do you think we can apply for 144 hour visa free transit in Guangzhou for this trip.
Best regards

If your stay in Guangdong province is within the time frame of 144 hours, you are eligible, but you will have to omit Hong Kong from the destinations you plan to visit. All other destinations are within Guangdong province and you can freely visit them using all available means of transport, but since Hong Kong has its own, autonomous immigration policy, different than the mainland China, you cannot use 144 hour visa free transit to include Hong Kong too.

In reality, you could include Hong Kong too, but that would require a bit of creativity. I will explain this option:

- You will declare at the check-in in Australia that you will travel from Australia to Hong Kong using 144 hour visa free transit in Guangzhou
- Beside your actual tickets, you will have to book a train ticket or ferry ticket in advance to reach Hong Kong from Guangdong province through one of eligible ports
- After your arrival in Hong Kong your first visa free transit option is expired and you will start a new itinerary
- New itinerary is Hong Kong - Guangzhou - Moscow, but keep in mind that the only option to be eligible for any kind of visa free option if departing from Hong Kong to Guangdong province is by flying from Hong Kong to Guangzhou by direct plane connection
- After your second arrival in Guangzhou, you will be granted new 144 hour visa free transit and you will be allowed to continue your visit to the places you have mentioned in your initial post

As you can see, if you plan to visit Hong Kong, you will have to make two eligible itineraries and they are possible only by booking a train or ferry ticket from Guangdong province to Hong Kong online, in advance and by taking a plane from Hong Kong to Guangzhou.

Now, when you know your options, you will make a decision what will you choose.
