About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Shenzhen and Macau

Nationality: South Korea

Itinerary
Day 1: ICN to SZX
Day 2: Shekou to Macau (by ferry)
Day 3: Macau to Shekou (by ferry)
Day 4: SZX to ICN

Can this tourist travel without visa? I think the first arrival in Shenzhen is applied to 144 hour TWOV and the second arrival is applied to 24 hour TWOV.

Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor English

Why is the second one not eligible for 24 hour visa free? Shekou port doesn't belong to the 'most port'? I know that for the 144 hour visa free in Guangdong, arrival by air is needed. But is it another thing for 24 hour visa free in Mainland China?

And in your answer in detail, what do 25 hours mean?

Well, here we have two itineraries where the first one is really eligible for 144 hour visa free transit, but for the second one you need a Chinese visa because it is allowed to enter Guangdong province only by plane when you plan to use visa free scheme. Of course, another option is to apply for a Shenzhen 5 day visa upon your arrival from Macau to Shekou port.

So, my suggestion would be that you use the first part of your travel itinerary:

Seoul - Shenzhen - Macau

for 144 hour visa free transit and when you return from Macau to apply for Shenzhen VOA at Shekou port. Please, have in mind that these are the opening hours of Shenzhen VOA office in Shekou port:

9:00 - 13:00 & 14:30 - 17:00

Several more important details:

- Your flight from Seoul to Shenzhen should not have any other landing within mainland China
- Your stay in mainland China (Guangdong province) has to be at least 25 hours long
- You have to book your ticket from Shekou to Macau before your departure from South Korea because this is the proof that you will really travel by using 144 hour visa free transit
- Your flight from Shenzhen to Seoul should not have any other landing within mainland China

It is not eligible because the only way to enter Guangdong province (Guangzhou, Shenzhen and many other cities) visa free (regardless of 24 or 144 hour visa free transit) from Macau and Hong Kong is by flying from Hong Kong to Guangzhou. There is no other visa free option, literally.

25 hours mean that your stay in mainland China, upon your arrival in Shenzhen, has to be at least 25 hours long or in other words, longer that 24 hours, to be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit for Guangdong province. You should keep in mind that you are not allowed to apply for 24 hour visa free transit if using Shenzhen airport for transit to Hong Kong and Macau. It has to be 144 hour visa free transit or nothing.
