About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

144 hour visa, how about hong Kong

I saw in a previous example, Hong Kong is treated as a separate country with regard to visa-free transit. Can you confirm that the below itinerary would meet the requirements?

Flight into China: New Delhi - Hong Kong - Beijing
144 hour visa
Flight out of China: Beijing - Los Angeles

Yes as long as that flight Beijing - Los Angeles is non-stop or if there is there is a stop it's not in Hong Kong. Cathay Pacific for example would not be allowed for the return to the USA
