About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Arrival on cruise to Shanghai leave by air

I will arrive on cruise ship to Shanghai from Japan, then want to stay 2 nights in hotel Shanghai. Then leave by air flight via Hong Kong to UK. Can I get 144-hour free transit visa? If yes, do I need to apply before leaving UK? Thanks

yes if Shanghai > Hong Kong is non-stop flight then you are good to use the 144 hour transit on the way home from your Japan cruise
