Cruise - 144 Hour Visa

I am flying into Bejing on June 9th. On June 12th I will embark on a cruise from Tianjin. The cruise will head to Japan and then back to Tianjin where we will disembark on June 17th. I will fly back to the US on the 17th. Does boarding a cruise qualify under the 144 Hour Visa exemption? Does this itinerary allow me to travel to mainland China without a tourism visa?

Thanks!

Dear, you can cover 144h visa exemption transit twice, so you don't need to apply for tourist L type.
