According to other sites, I could leave the airport during my 10 hr layover as long as I am waiting to be transferred to a 3rd world country which in my case is Phuket. On my way home I can not leave the airport during my layover because I am going to LAX which is not a 3rd world country. All I want is to confirm with you, thats all.
