Flying to Shanghai Cruise Japan Return SH

Hi , I would just like to clarify visa free transit rules. We are Australian
We are flying to SH on a Monday morning , departing on a 7 night cruise on the Tuesday. The cruise is to visit 3 ports in Japan . We then return to SH the following Tuesday and fly back to Australia that evening. Does this fall under the 144 hours visa free category. Thank you in advance

Your entire itinerary is eligible for visa free transit scheme, but I assume that you will use 144 hours visa free transit during your first arrival in Shanghai because there will be probably more than 24 hours between your scheduled arrival in SH and your scheduled departure from SH by cruise.

During your second arrival in SH, you will be definitely covered by 24 hours visa free transit because your entire time will be less than 24 hours in transit.

Just one warning... Your flights to and from SH should not have any additional landings within mainland China!
