About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

Need visa from TPE to JFK via two chinese cities?

My wife and my daughter are US citizens.
They arrived at Taipei airport and was headed to JFK (in the US).
There were 3 segments for the flight: TPE to Guangdong, Guangdong to Chongqing, and then Chongqing to JFK with layover of max 3 hrs at the two chinese cities.
At TPE airport, airline agent denied my wife and daughter flights as they needed visas to enter into China.
Wow, is this correct? As a result they missed their flights.

Thank you!!

thank you!
This itinerary is within June 28'19. My wife was flabbergasted when she was denied the initial flight.
I am going to seek compensation for cancelling the flight and fee incurred.

I appreciate that this website exists and someone can independently verify that my wife and I were not hallucinating.

Best!!

Plee, it's hard to say whether the airline agent was right or not. From the data that you have presented it appears that your wife and daughter were wrongfully denied boarding because he should have been aware of the 24 hours visa free transit rule. Anyway, for us to be better informed, could you please, present the exact times of the itinerary your wife and daughter were supposed to travel. After that, you will undoubtedly receive relevant opinion from the forum members.

It's more than obvious that an airline agent was awfully wrong because the entire transit time within the mainland China was exactly 10 hours. This is perfectly allowed and your wife and daughter didn't need a visa for this itinerary. I really cannot understand such a decision because 24 hours visa free transit is not anything new or complicated. In reality, this represents the easiest part in the entire structure of the visa free transit system of mainland China.

The only thing that crosses my mind is the possibility that the above mentioned itinerary was not supposed to happen within 10 hours? Did it maybe include an overnight in Guangzhou or Chongqing? I assume that it it isn't, but I just try to remove any possibility that has maybe affected his/her decision to deny a boarding to your wife and daughter.

Now, when you have confirmed that the portion of the itinerary that was intended for mainland China was supposed to happen during the time frame of 10 hours, I can just confirm that an airline agent was not only ignorant, but also unjustifiably confident in his/her decision that was awfully wrong. If he/her was humble enough to consult Timatic, everything would be resolved within a couple of minutes. I'm so sorry for the material loss that your family has to endure, but also for a shock to be kicked out of the airport and feeling miserably, all in the same time.

I definitely support you in your intention to seek a compensation and also hope that you will be successful in your efforts.
