About:Hong Kong Visa Policy

Im visa free but was stopped

I have an Egypt passport and according to HK I shoulf be able to visit visa free. I had a 10 hour transit on my way from dubai to Australia. The immigtation officer detained me for over an hour and did not want to grant me access into HK. Eventually they granted me the access slip but told me that I should stay within the airport.
I am planning to go again but this time with a longer stay in HK. Is there something that I should have?

You need to convince the immigration officer that you have enough funds and will be able to leave HK by the end of your stay. Bring hotel reservation and onward ticket as bare minimum, and be prepared to show bank account balances and answer questions about current employment. HK immigration has a reputation for scrutinizing travelers from Africa (except South Africa), Southeast Asia (except a few rich countries) and South Asia so your experience is unfortunately quite common.
