About:China Visa

Do I qualify for 72h transit without visa?

I have a New Zealand passport, currently in Bali. I want to go to Shanghai for 2 days. Do I need a visa if I fly Bali to Hong Kong, then Hong Kong to Shanghai Pu dong or Guanzhou, then return to Bali?

Yes, you will qualify for the 144h visa-free transit, but note that you can't have layovers in both Shanghai and Guangzhou. Just choose one of them.

You need a visa if you are not in transit to a third country and you can only visit one Chinese transit region. Also the country immediately before and after must be different countries. You can't enter from Hong Kong and exit through Hong Kong, even if you don't leave airport
