Do I need a VISA for HK and CHINA

I am a student and will be going to HK in a month's time for a workshop. I have a valid South African passport. I plan to take one extra week to tour China.
my questions:
1) Do I need a VISA for HK and China?
2) Do I need a multi-entry or double-entry VISA since well I will be in HK and will tour Beijing?

1. You don't need Hong Kong visa for a stay of shorter than 30 days; you need a visa for China.
2. Please specify your itinerary and then I can just tell you which type is more suitable.
