About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu

I'm flying to Shanghai staying 2 days then cruising back to Australia.

Is this eligible for the 144 hours visa free policy?

If you fly from Australia to Shanghai and then back to Australia, it is not eligible for the 144 hour visa free policy since it requires to transit to the third country.

Actually, this is not correct answer because the cruise implies different stops between Shanghai and Australia.

Chris, these are the details that will determine whether you are eligible or not for 144 hours visa free transit:

- Your flight from Australia should not have any additional landing within mainland China and in the city/country that will be your first port call immediately after you depart by cruise from SH.
- Your cruise should not have as the first port call, immediately after you depart from SH, a port in mainland China.
- Your cruise needs at least one port call between SH and Australia in the city/country different from both mainland China and Australia, but it cannot be a city/country where you will maybe have a layover during your flight from Australia to SH.

If the above conditions are met, you are perfectly eligible for 144 hours visa free transit.
