About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

144 Visa Free Transit in Guangzhou

Will be eligible for the 144 hrs visa free transit if I fly from UK to Guangzhou for 4 days and then fly back to UK from Guangzhou?

No, this route is not eligible as you fly from UK to Guangzhou and then back. This is a visit rather than a transit. You can stop over a third country on your way inbound or outbound to be eligible.

So the best thing to do is to apply for a tourist visa at the Embassy in London right?

Yes, you can apply for tourist visa at CVASC in London. Or you can change your route to UK-Guangzhou-Hong Kong-UK, and then you can be eligible for 144h visa exemption transit.
