Do I need 72 hour transit visa

A UK passport holder is traveling from London via Bangkok to Changsha and then returning Changsha to Hongkong, then onto LONDON. can he use the 72hour transit visa, if the total stay in Changsha is less than 72 hours, or does the 72 hours need to include the time up to departure in Hong Kong

Kamoozi, 72h visa free transit has been extended to 144h visa exemption transit. For your itinerary of Bangkoko-Changsha-Hong Kong, you are eligible for visa exemption.
