About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit visa required documents

Hello,
I am a Pakistani national travelling from New York(USA) to Islamabad(PK) via Beijing(China). My layover in Beijing is of 11 hours. Do I need a transit visa to get out of the airport for sight seeing?

Thank you!

If those are your only stops within an itinerary, you are qualified for 24 hours visa free transit. Anyway, to exit the airport you have two options. While traveling on 24 hours visa free transit you can apply upon landing in Beijing for 24 hours free entry permit to be allowed to exit the airport. This permit is usually granted for those whose layovers are longer than 8 hours, but there is no guarantee because the issuing of permits is always upon discretion of immigration official. The second option implies obtaining of transit visa in advance. Having a transit visa, you will be definitively allowed to exit the airport, but the question is whether does it really pays since you will stay in Beijing for such a short time. Well, it's up to you to make a decision in this case.
