im holding taiwan passport, do i need to apply visa going to hongkong?

If you stay in Hong Kong for less than 7 days, you don't need visa; otherwise, you need it.

The above answer is completely wrong. Taiwanese passport holders without a valid ID card number require a Chinese Travel Document and a HK Entry Permit (similar to a visa) from a Chinese embassy or consulate. Those with an ID number inside the passport must complete the Pre-arrival Registration online and print the application slip.
