About:Visa on Arrival

as Italian can I get visa on arrival at Louhu ?

A friend of mine told me that once landed at HKG airport I can take the MTR train and get to Louhu and once there I can apply for entry visa for 5 days (I need to stay 2 days in Shenzhen) and then I can take the boat to go straight back to HKG apt 2 days after when flying back home ?

Thanks. I was told to take tge MTR because my flight arrive at HKG Airport at 17.00 hours hence cannot get visa at the Port as you also said. Do I need to pay cash for the visa or credit card also accepted ? Rgds

Luca, everything you have heard is correct. Anyway, if your plane arrives in the morning or early afternoon hours, you can perfectly take a ferry to Shekou Shenzhen port directly from Hong Kong airport, i.e. totally hassle free and you can return in the same way to catch your flight from Hong Kong. By the way, you should have in mind that it is impossible to obtain VOA at Shekou port after 17:00!

One more detail... Actually, there is no direct train from Hong Kong airport to Lo Wu (Luohu), but you will have to change trains several time. Not a complicated process, but just an information for you. Trust me, ferry is much easier although a bit expensive, of course.

Yes, MTR is definitely the best option in your case. Upon arrival in Lo Wu (Luohu) border crossing, you will have two options for paying for your Shenzhen VOA, in cash or by credit card. Credit cards are accepted, but just in case that something went wrong (although it won't) with the credit card payment system, it is advisable to have some cash with you, like EUR or USD and you will be able to change them in CNY right at the border although the exchange rate there is relatively unfavorable. Immediately when you resolve the formalities, it is highly advisable to immediately obtain some cash in CNY upon your entry in Shenzhen and by far the best option is to use one of ATMs.
