About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Australia to Shanghai by air 36 hr hotel stopover before 8 day cruise to Japan.

Return to Shanghai for immediate airport transfer to Return flight to Australia
Can we rely on 24hr or 72hr temporary visa for above holiday?

Actually, you are allowed for 144 hours visa free transit during your first stay in Shanghai because your stay will be longer than 24 hours and for 24 hours visa free transit during your second stay in Shanghai because your stay in this case will be less than 24 hours. Here we have just two conditions that have to be fulfilled:

- Your flights to and from Shanghai should not have any additional landing within mainland China or Japan.
- Your cruise should not have any port calls in mainland China immediately after and immediately before your departure and arrival from and to Shanghai.

If the above conditions are fulfilled, you can enjoy complete visa free transit through China. Please, just use correct terminology because you will not apply for any kind of visa because you will travel completely visa free.
