About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US Passport traveling through Asia

I will be traveling from the United States to Seoul, South Korea and then stay in Shanghai for 48 hours and then return to the United States. Will this qualify for a 72 hour transit visa free or will a regular visa be required? Thank you in advance.

Its valid for transit without visa as long as Shanghai > USA does not also transit Korea again for another Chinese city.
