About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Visa for Indonesian passport with 16 - 18hrs lay over at Guangzhou,

Hi i have Indonesian passport and going to Canada.

i will have 16-18 hrs layover at Guangzhou,

do i need a visa or the 24hrs free visa already cover it?

Please advise.

Hi Res,

Were you granted with 24 hours visa free when transiting? I hold indonesia passport as well transiting over 15 hours from jakarta - beijing - Vancouver but they rejected the 24 hours visa free with no reason and further explanation. I hope this doesn't happen to you.

You are definitely covered by 24 hours visa free transit if this is your only stop in mainland China, so you do don't need any kind of visa. Having in mind that your layover is quite long, you can apply for 24 hours free entry permit to exit the airport. It is advisable top book an accommodation for that purpose and to have a confirmation in hard copy. The issuing of entry permit is always upon discretion of immigration official.

Airin, you were not denied 24 hours visa free transit because you have completed your entire journey, but you were denied entry permit that is different thing than to 24 hours visa free transit. So please, don't confuse others saying that you haven not been granted something because your statement is not correct. Actually, you have been granted 24 hours visa free transit.
