About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

6 days consecutive in Beijing?

I will transit through Beijing (Australia-HK-BJ), staying 1 night before departing to DPRK via overnight train. When I return via overnight train, I’m only in the city for the day then flying out the same night. Is the same pass valid for both transits? Or must the 6 days be consecutive? Thank you.

You must have a Chinese visa in advance to take the train to and from DPRK. 144 hours TWOV does not apply in either direction.

You need a visa for the train to DPRK.

You need a visa when using the train to/from North Korea. Only the West railway station is eligible and that is because of the overnight train between HK and BJ. North Korea uses a different station. Formalities are done at the border between the two countries and that is not an approved entry/exit port for visa free transit.
