About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Can enjoy the 72 hours visa free- transit two times consecutively?

I am planning a trip as follows:
Singapore - Shanghai on 22 October,
Shanghai - Tokyo on 24 October, (within 72 hours)
Tokyo - Beijing on October 28,
Beijing - Singapore on October 30 (within 72 hours).

Would the visa free 72 hours would be granted both in Shanghai and in Beijing according to the policy? Is there any limitation of the times? Thanks.

You will be eligible for 144 hour visa free transit on both of your ways. 72 hour visa free transit has been replaced by 144 hour visa free transit in both Beijing and Shanghai a couple of years ago. It is just important that those are your only stops because any additional landing of any kind within mainland China would make your ineligible for any kind of visa free transit scheme.

By the way, there are no limits on how often and how many times you can use this visa free scheme. In reality, it could be theoretically used on a daily basis.
