About:Xinjiang Travel

Do foreigners need permits to visit Xinjiang

We are US citizens and plan to visit Urumuqi, attractions along Duku Highway, Kashgar, and Karakul lake next month. Do we need permits in addition to Chinese visas to visit these places.

No extra permit is needed in most areas but it is not allowed to visit Khunjerab Pass, Karakul Lake, Baihaba and Keketuohai.
