About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit visa for 1 country - China one city - China another city - 2 country

Hi,

I'm in Thailand, and want to visit Xi'an and then Chengdu, and then fly to London.
Is it possible to have 72 hours free visa in Xi'an, and then 72 hours free visa in Chengdu?
Or only 72 hours in Xi'an and 24 hours in Chengdu?

Neither is possible. 72/144 hours transit without visa (not a "free visa") allows transit in Xi'an or Chengdu, but not both. Two stops limits you to 24 hours.
