About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

do layovers still count?

I'm flying from New York to Zurich with a 5-hour layover, then to Shanghai. I leave Shanghai 3 days later on a flight to Dallas. Because I'm coming from Zurich (though only on a 5-hour layover), do I still qualify for the 144-hour TWOV?

Do I properly understand that your entire itinerary consists of the following three nonstop flights: New York - Zurich - Shanghai - Dallas? If I'm right, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 144 hours visa free transit because the only detail that is important regarding 144 hours visa free transit rules is this segment: Zurich - Shanghai - Dallas. By the way, could you confirm that these are all of your landings in the entire journey, just to be certain?

Thanks! It’s two one way flights: JFK ZUR PVG. Few days in Shanghai. Then PVG DFW LGA. Sounds like I’m okay though?
