About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Does technical stop count to 24 hour?

Hi
I have a Bangladesh passport with more than 6 months validity during my travel time.

I plan to take a China Southern Airlines flight from Frankfurt to Bangkok (I have visa for both points). The flight has a 2 hour 5 minutes technical stop at Shenyang Airport and a 22 hour 15 minutes change at Guangzhou Airport. Total stopover time is 24 hours 20 minutes. I am not sure if the immigration rule is to add the technical stopover time to total stopover time for the purpose of calculation of 24 hours.

Do I qualify for the 24-hour TWOV programme?

My luggage is connected through the end , flights are CZ8022 and CZ8099.

Unfortunately, your itinerary is not eligible for 24 hour visa free transit because your total transit time in China exceeds 24 hours. Also, it is not 24 hours and 20 minutes, but longer than that because 24 hours period is counted from your first scheduled landing until your final scheduled departure from China or in other words, even the time spent in flight on a domestic route is counted against the total time allowed to stay in China. It is essential to understand that the immigration procedures in China are always performed at the very first point of landing or in other words, your flight Shenyang to Guangzhou is considered as a purely domestic flight or even better, you are considered to be in China at the time of your scheduled landing in Shenyang. If you can alter/amend your flight itinerary that would be a great thing, but if you cannot, you will have to obtain a Chinese transit (G) visa in advance. It is the easiest Chinese visa to obtain, but it involves an application and some fees as expected. In any case, if you cannot do anything with your flights and they are non refundable and non cancellable, this is your, unfortunately, only option. I am sorry to be one to bring you these unfavorable news, but it is better that you are informed than to be refused boarding the plane.
