Studying on a tourist visa?

Are you allowed to study at a university on a tourist visa? I am already in China travelling and want to study but not sure if I’m allowed.

No, you have to get a student visa in order to study at a university. If possible, try to change your tourist L into an X type at the local Exit and Entry Administration.
