About:China Visa Renewal and Extension

Is it possible to apply for a new visa in China?

I am studying in China on a F-visa that expires in one month. I have been told I cannot renew, change or extend the current type of Visa. My question is: is it possible to apply for a completely new visa (x-type or other) in China or will I have to apply from another country? I read about this elsewhere online, but in the small town I am staying it does not seem to be possible, but perhaps it is a different case in other cities like Beijing etc.? My nationality is Finland.

Thanks for your help!

Actually it's possible to change your current visa into another type like the X visa, though the result is not guaranteed. Generally speaking, this should be done at the Exit and Entry Administry of a PSB at the county level or above. So, just visit the county's PSB and have a try.
