Shanghai 144 hour visa free transit
Hi, I hold an EU passport and have already booked a ticket to travel in Shanghai and stay with family and friends from 10 July until 7 September 2019. I have already applied for a tourist visa for stay of 60 days with 2 entries. My question is the following: While in Shanghai we plan to make a trip to Japan with my family for 12 days and come back to Shanghai for 4 days before I fly out of China. Although I already have a visa with 2 entries (my first entry will be used on 10 July when I first enter China), on my second entry to Shanghai from Japan (non stop flight Tokyo - Shanghai) can I apply for the 144 hour vIsa free transit in Pudong airport instead of using my second entry and keep the second entry of my existing visa for a future trip? Does that make sense? I already have all my tickets booked and will be flying in to Shanghai from Tokyo on 3 September and then flying out of China to the UK on 7 September. I know I meet all the requirements country A- China- country B but will the immigration officer allow me to apply for the visa free transit and NOT use my valid entry in my visa? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Theresa
