Leaving CD around 7.29 am. However I have been unable to find more info about the station ( Chengdu West) or where to get the tickets from?

The earliest train depart from CD at 7:49. You can buy tickets when you get the railway station in advance or just book tickets through TravelChinaGuide: booking@travelchinaguide.com.
