About:Jinshanling Great Wall

Is there only 1 daily bus from Dongzhimen to Jinshanling?

It is mentioned only 7.40 and return at 16.00.
No more buses after 7.40? Is it possible to book in advance or must buy directly at the bus?

Yes, the Jinshanling Tourist Bus Line only has one schedule daily. Thus you need to get to the bus station early in the morning because the bus tickets cannot be booked in advance.
