About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I qualify for the 24 h free transit in Shanghai since I am arriving at cruise port not airport?

In June I will be arriving in Shanghai cruise terminal from Japan then would like to get 1 day hotel in Shanghai 24 free transit and leave the Shanghai Airport the next day for the Philippines. I will not have visa for Philippines since I receive free visa on arrival there.

Of course you are qualified for 24 hours visa free transit. Anyway, you should carefully count your hours of stay in Shanghai, from the very arrival (scheduled arrivals are those that matter, not real ones) by your cruise ship until your scheduled departure to Philippines. In case that this is less than 24 hours you are perfectly within the 24 hours visa free transit. In case that you exceed 24 hours, you are perfectly within the legal frames for 144 hours visa free transit. So, in both cases, you can enjoy visa free transit.

One more detail... You should bring your plane ticket in printed form and also your accommodation booking. After that, the procedure of applying and allowing your stay will be very fast and you will be granted your visa free stay in Shanghai.
