About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

1 1/2 layover in Guangzhou

I am about to book my flight to PEK from Hanoi and have a layover in Guangzhou before my direct flight back to the states. Am I able to use the 144 hours in Beijing before flying home? My flights would be HAN-CAN (layover)-PEK-US.

You cannot use 144 hours transit without visa in Beijing. Two stops in China limits you to 24 hours transit without visa.
