About:Shanghai 15-day Visa-free Policy for Cruise Tour Groups

Do I need a visa to travel to China and then on to Japan?

I will be flying into Shanghai one day prior to boarding a cruise. We then cruise to So Korea for 1 day and onto Tianjin for three nights (where I will do an overnight in Beijing on an excursion). We then go to JeJu Island in South Korea for 1 night and then onto Japan for five nights and depart from Tokyo. The whole trip is 16 days. Do I need a Visa for China?

The first leg US - Shanghai - South Korea is fine, but the second part, i.e. South Korea - Tianjin (China) - Jeju (South Korea) does not qualify because this is not a transit, but a return trip or a visit. To conclude, you need a Chinese visa.
