Assuming that you plan to join a day trip during your layover in Kunming, I will just suggest you that you should book your trip in advance to increase (or better to say to almost secure) the chances of getting an entry permit. By the way, keep in mind that 24 hours visa free transit allows you to stay in China for 24 hours from your scheduled arrival until your scheduled departure from the country. Please, count your time (hours) carefully and then bring your decisions.0
