About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Stopover in Hong Kong airport

Hi there, your previous answer was very helpful thank you. My question previously related to a two day stay in Shanghai then boarding a cruise ship to Japan, arriving back in Shanghai to fly to Heathrow. You kindly informed us we can get transit visas for both arrivals in Shanghai, but I forgot to mention the flight back to Heathrow is not direct, we stop in Hong Kong for six hours before going onto Heathrow. We won’t be leaving the airport so can our transit visa be used still?
Regards
Ron James

As a UK citizen you don't need a transit visa.
Do you mean twov?
That's something totally different and is not a visa.

What's your last stop before Shanghai?

So the cruise ship goes straight to Japan and returns without any other stop in China or Hong Kong?

London - Shanghai - Japan is fine for the 144h twov.
Japan - Shanghai - HK is fine for the 24h twov (if you stay longer as 24h in Shanghai you're fine for the 144h twov).
