144-Hour Visa Free in Beijing

We are taking a cruise that departs out of Hong Kong. We arrive in Beijing at 5:10 pm on 9/6 so the clock would start at midnight on the 7th. We depart to Hong Kong on the morning of 9/11 and arrive around noon and get on the ship that afternoon. All that said, we would be in China for less than the 144 hour (6 day) maximum stay. Do we qualify for the 144-hour Visa free?

Could you give a specific route? If it is HK-Beijijng-HK, then you are not eligible for the policy since it is not a transfer.

No. We arrive in Beijing on 9/6. We then fly to Hong Kong on 9/11 to depart on the cruise which also departs on 9/11.

Is it USA - Beijing - HK and then take a cruise? There is no problem of this route and you can apply for the 144-hour free visa transit.
