Hong Kong train to Guangzhou

We have a similar question to Kim, however we will simply be crossing the border in to Guangzhou for the Canton Fair and returning back to Hong Kong. As Guangzhou is part of the 72 hour visa scheme, will it be possible for us to apply for the short stay visa?

Again, we only wish to cross the border and go to the fair for a day or two then return to HK.

You won't qualify for free transit in Guangzhou, but you can try to contact the Guangzhou VOA port to inquire if you can get it beforehand.
