Shangai visa exemption

We will be flying to Shanghai from the US via Hong Kong---connecting to Shanghai the same day.
We will be staying in Shanghai for 4 days and will then board a cruise ship for Busan, South Korea.
Will we be eligible for the 144 day visa-exemption?
Thanks,
Bill Wolff
