Hi, I hope to travel to China from June to September but I will also be studying in China from September 2019 to June 2020 and stay for traveling until September 2020. Do I apply for a Travel Visa to China for the two months and then apply for X1 for the studying period?

It's possible for you to do it. You can apply for a X1 type in your country, and enter China in advance for the trip, I suppose.
