Departing a cruise ship in Shanghai, does the 144 transit rule apply

Your full routing is needed for review. If you fly to Shanghai from Country A and the next cruise port is not china or Country A then you don't need a visa

Examples
Fly Japan > Shanghai > Boat to Japan then you need visa
Fly USA > Shanghai non-stop > Boat to Japan then you don't need visa
