About:240-hour Visa-free Transit in Beijing, Tianjin & Hebei

Hi is it possible to go from Hong Kong to Beijing for a visit to use the 144 visa free entry

and then back to Hong Kong?
That is to say does this qualify as a transit

No, you need to fly to a third country before returning to/through Hong Kong.
