Obtaining two 144 hour visa free transit

We are arriving to Shanghai directly via air from the US. We will only be visiting Shanghai In China. In less then 144 hours we will leave Shainghai for an 8 day cruise to a Japan. The cruise will be returning to Shanghai and we will be reboarding the same ship on the same day to go on a 20 day cruise which visits various ports including Hong Kong, but no other mainland China port. We fly back to the USA from Australia. Will we be able to obtain a second free transit.
