72 hours visa exemption for British

A British who travels from Yangon, Myanmar to Tianjin to attend meeting for a day, then fly back to Yangon via BKK. Is he eligible to get 72 hours free transit?

It depends on the exact route. I don't think there is a non-stop flight from Yangon to Tianjin. Where is he connecting?

He may fly Myanmar/Bangkok/Tainjin/Singapore/Myanmar. This way will he meet the TWOV requirement?.
