About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

My itinary

I am not clear on the routing requirements. I am leaving from the US going to Tokyo and then to Beijing. Beijing back to the US (with a transfer in Canada). Could I use the 144 hour twov?

If those are the only landings it's viewed as Japan > Beijing > Canada and meets requirements. How long you spend in each airport does not matter. The landing in Canada is considered a stop as soon as the wheels touch the ground (technically once the plane takes off to Canada)
