About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

USA - Beijing - Hong Kong Travel

If I am planning a 4 day visit to Beijing en route to Hong Kong on the 144-hour twov, can I take the train to Xian and back to Beijing with this visa? Or do I have to stay in the Beijing area?

Going to Xi'an is a big no-no. The only authorized areas are Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province.

According to new policy, it is ok 72hours visa-free transit for Xian, reference below: http://app.www.gov.cn/govdata/html5/2018/visafreetransit/pc/index.html

Not even the airport. The term on the 144-hour entry permit is Crystal clear: Authorized area of stay is only "Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province". This kind of irresponsible advice will land people in hot water with the authorities.
