About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

does Canada count as third country

if I fly to Shanghai as follows:

Seattle - Vancouver - 17 hrs in Vancouver
Vancouver - Shanghai - 3 days in Shanghai
Shaghai - Seattle (1hr in Vancouver)

does this qualify for transit visa?

Canada counts as a third country, however that one hour in Vancouver makes your route ineligible. It must be non-stop to third country. You are entering Shanghai from Canada and your next landing is also Canada, visa will be required.
