About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Can I leave the airport within the 24H transit period

Hi,

I intend to transit in Guangzhou Baiyun Airport on my way from Sydney - Osaka. Can i leave the airport for few hours to meet up quickly with my friends in the city?
